Delete account
Podio is the app for recording amateur padel matches and tracking your ranking on Android and iOS, made by Gonzalo Sánchez. This page explains how to delete your Podio account, whether you still have the app installed or you have already uninstalled it. This English version is a courtesy translation: if anything differs, the Spanish version prevails.
From the app (the fastest way)
If you still have the app installed:
- Open Podio and sign in.
- Go to the Profile tab (bottom right).
- Tap Settings.
- In the Account section, tap Delete my account.
- Confirm by tapping Delete in the dialog that appears.
Deletion is immediate and permanent: there is no grace period, no “frozen” or temporarily deactivated account, and no way to undo it or recover the account afterward.
If you already uninstalled the app
Write to us at sanchez.gonzalo94@gmail.com with the subject “Delete my Podio account”. Include in your message:
- The email you created the account with (your login email, or the one you used to sign in with Google or Apple).
- Your username (@handle), if you remember it.
Since this is a request about personal data, before deleting the account we may ask you to confirm your identity (for example, by writing to us from that same email), so nobody else can delete an account that is not theirs. Under Argentine law (Ley 25.326), we resolve this kind of request within 5 business days.
What gets deleted
- Your authentication user (Firebase Auth): your email and login credentials cease to exist, you will not be able to sign in to that account again.
- First name, last name, username, bio, playing preferences, year of birth, and the email stored in your settings: all of it is nulled.
- Your profile photo is physically deleted from storage.
- Push notification tokens on your devices are emptied.
What remains, and why
Podio is a ranking app: the mechanics depend on the match history staying valid for the other people who played with you, even after your account no longer exists.
- Your confirmed matches are not deleted. Your name stops being displayed (in the app you will show up as “deleted player” in that spot of the match), but the match itself and your internal identifier (a code, without your name) persist, because they are also the history of your opponents and teammates.
- Your gender and playing category are kept indefinitely. They are the seed that lets us recompute other players’ ratings; they are the only part of your profile that is not wiped.
- Your internal rating is kept. It was never shown as such to anyone, not even to you.
- Leagues are not deleted. Your membership is marked as that of someone who left. If you were an admin, administration passes to another active member, and the league is archived only if no active members remain.
This is not an account “freeze” or a temporary deactivation: it is a real deletion of your identifiable personal data, with the sole exception of what is needed to keep other players’ ranking reproducible. This is exactly what the “How long we keep it” section of our privacy policy describes.
Timelines
- From the app: immediate. Once you confirm, your profile, photo, and authentication user are deleted at the same time.
- By email: up to 5 business days from when we receive your request; before we proceed we verify your identity (Ley 25.326).
- Firebase installation identifiers (used for push notifications): purged from Google’s systems within 180 days, even if your token was already emptied earlier.
More detail
This page is a focused summary on account deletion. What data we collect, what we use it for, who we share it with, and your other rights are covered in the privacy policy. The rules for the account and the service are in the terms and conditions.
